More snow, more sport

So #biggamewednesday was a massive disappointment :(

Due to another bout of freakishly heavy snow, the Duke/UNC game was cancelled. Duke now have to suffer a run of four games in eight days, which can't be good for the players.

Due to this very same snow, I (thankfully) managed to miss the first half of possibly the worst EPL game this season. My Gunners misfiring yet again in a 0-0 draw with the scum... a disturbing decline? I hope it's just a hiccup in an otherwise strong season so far.

On the plus side, the snow made for some more pretty pictures...

As mentioned in my earlier Snowpocalypse post, driving during snow in the south is suicide - no matter what the occasion may be...

IN LIGHTER NEWS.

Yes, there is indeed lighter news. Silver linings on clouds and all that jazz.

Arsenal avenged (kinda) the humiliating 5-1 defeat to Liverpool last weekend, by knocking the scousers out of the FA Cup today. I missed the match unfortunately, as our Thurs/Fri classes got rescheduled to Sat/Sun due to the snow. But it's good to win again... we just need to carry the momentum forward now. Although, perhaps a certain Mr. Giroud should learn to discipline himself...

More sport! I went to go watch Duke play Maryland yesterday. Embarrassingly only the second ball game I've been to this season (despite being a season ticket holder). I'm so glad I went though - the atmosphere was electric! We managed to edge out the Terps by two points with some scrambling last minute defence. A fitting send off for the tortoises as they gracefully bow out of ACC.

Hmm, this is a very sports-heavy post? There must be something else...

Ah, yes - I have a new niece :)

My cousin and his wife had a baby girl on the 14th - easily the best thing that has happened on Valentine's Day ever! I'm not going to post photos up here, but trust me when I say she is absolutely beautiful - can't wait to meet her in person when I go back home. She is just Baby G at the moment, but I am pushing hard for the names Daenerys, Arcee or Rakusu.

Will keep you all updated on the progress of my lobbying efforts :p

Where did January go?

Man, January has rocketed by - I guess time flies when you're having fun?

It's really scary how quickly things seem to be moving. Pretty soon summer will come around... and bring my big three-oh with it.

Continuing the British cliche of always talking about the weather - it snowed here last week. Barely a couple of inches mind you, but much like a certain British airport, Southern society ground to a rather undignified halt. I was particularly alarmed by the locals' inability to drive safely in the snow (high gear, low revs please!).

It certainly is pretty though.
